All things considered, IMHO actual cash value of Chrysler is negative dollars.
So's Ford, or even GM for that matter.
DB will have a little problem divesting because the lines between DB and Chrysler are blurring a little in some car lines. (fortunately Crossfire won't be missed by many).
Chrysler's market assets are slim; none sell worth much (unless you have gold teeth, braids, drive a black 300 with $10,000 worth of bling, and have folks opening your passenger door and sitting there for 30 seconds while you transact business over and over again every day), except for the vans...which could be replaced by (gasp!) good engineering and tight production.
DB's only hope of pulling it's butt out of the financial hole Chrysler has it in is to let Chrysler recover as the US sector recovers and Chrysler rebounds with the industry.
If GM buys Chrysler it would only compound the problems it already has: too much capacity, too many poorly defined lines, and not enough sales.
Now...if Hyundai were to pitch for Chrysler....that could be interesting. Or Shanghai Auto or one of the other larger Chinese makers...
