My wife bought me a coat at LL Bean, seven years ago. I wore it a lot, every winter. However, the front two buttons tore out of the canvas fabric, and I really couldnt repair it at a tailor.
So this summer on our way to PEI, I threw the coat in the Thule, and we stopped in on the loop back at the Freeport store. I didnt think I had a chance, but what the hell? why not try?
At the returns department, I just explained it. The lady handed me a gift certificate, and told me where I could get the same coat, in the brand new improved version, 159 US dollars. And that was that, except for the sales tax.
Impressed me. Unconditional guarantee, with seven years of heavy wear. By the way, the buttons on the new coat have much better thread attachments.
How many times do you think I will tell the story of a brand new coat switched for an old one? and that is why LL Bean is successful.
I agree, just call back. The stitching probably shouldnt have come out.
