It's also different when you're buying a new car. If you think about it the actual cost of the key is pretty measly compared to what they make in commission off of you. It's mostly about making you happy, especially when you're spending so much. When my mom got her 2005 Town and Country (it was one year old, used at the time) the dealer was very generous. We got all new headphones and a remote for the rear seat DVD system, a brand new updated nav DVD, and they threw in a 3rd key for free as we had 3 drivers in the house (this was before I got my 9-5). I would imagine the keys for that thing are pretty expensive with the all-in-one design and all sorts of buttons for the power sliding doors and hatch. The dealer wants to make a good first impression so you'll come back and really spend the big bucks.
