Thank you for the good suggestions..
I called BoA this morning. Turned out the $6.95 charge is the Quicken direct access charge so I can download activities online. BoA's online banking is still free. The monthly fee was granfathered when Fleet was taken over by BoA. If I were to sign on after the takeover the monthly charge would have been $9.95. That tells you how have I been looking over my banking activities. So much for not reading the fine prints clicking away on the internet.
Of course I can use BoA's direct access to download activities to Quicken and it is also free. Naturally I told BoA to stop the Quicken direct access right away. I'll stay with BoA after all to avoid the hassle of switching banks. The only thing I don't like with BoA is it charges $5.00 for every ATM withdrawal I make overseas. This is also grandfathered from the Fleet Bank era. But I used a Commerce Bank account for ATM withdrawal when I travel to avoid the ATM fees.
Now if I can keep using Quicken 2005 and not upgrade that would be very nice. I doubt it is going to happen.
