This looks like a standard ODB II reader, of which, there are probably a thousand on the market. Two disadvantages of this one are that, according to Consumer Reports, you can't reset the error code using this reader, and with the ODB II data port mounted on the unit, it might not fit on some cars. Most other readers have a short cable with a plug on the end.
The ability to dial in to get the error code decoded could be potentially useful, but cumbersome. The units that have code explanation built in to the unit are handier, but they have to be periodically updated with new model information.
Look at comparable models made by Actron. I think they are a little better designed.
