The in-ear models are superior to the old behind-the-ear style hearing aids, but not nearly as good as the newer style "open" ones, with a small piece behind the ear and a wire snaking into the ear with the speaker.
They are excellent in crowded areas and are not bothered by wind.
You get what you pay for. Basic units are about $2000 a pair. Going to $3500-$4000 is the sweet spot, better performance in directionality and the ability to distinguish background noise and filter it out etc.I bought Resound Dot 30s for $3700 the pair.
Top of the line is close to $6000 and adds all the bells and whistles, such as Bluetooth and the ability of the two units to communicate with each other and adjust in real time to provide a more natural sound.
In general, avoid the companies that advertise all the time and seek out a doctorate-level audiologist or an ENT doc.
