This list of 18 plus another dozen in related topics all seem to indicate a problem to me. This is just one year and model. It also seemed enough to start an investigation by NHTSA, but their inital investigation was inconclusive, and they didn't have the manpower to fully investigate.
I'm guessing there are or were a lot more incidents, and they seem unique and repeating incidents. My neighbor's experience was exactly like a number of these: hesitation on acceleration, and a big surge when parking with little or no brake.
