Now that we have to face the reality of the future for SAAB parts we need to caution the law requiring parts to be made available has a BIG catch in it.

The way it really plays out is there is a requirement for a PROJECTED 10 year supply of parts. So if they have sold 10 muffler bearings per year up to now , then they projected a lower rate for the future ( cars get wrecked, worn out and scrapped etc) and say that 50 is the qty required. When they are gone , too bad thats it.

Here is how that really clobbered some other orphan cars. Lets say the muffler bearings are well made and really take 8- 10 years before they normally wear out. Then when the vehicles get to that age they need replacement. But because it was not reflected in previous parts sales as the fleet was simply not old enough the supply is gone in a matter of weeks and then that is it ! The law will not protect the consumer at that point.

But for most of us diehards, it will be junkyards and parts cars that will keep us going for a long time.
