Build it right to start with and you don't have to hang all the addons on it for it to burn cleanly
That's so true. When I look at an Asian car engine with a myriad of vacuum hoses and actuators and God knows what and then look at the few addons Saab has used though the years, you wonder how Saab manage to pass the smog regulation.
They did tinker with EGR in 82 and removed it in 83 and then in 90 and removed it on that same year/model (CA). Otherwise it has pretty much been Oxygen sensors and catalytic converter on the 4 cyl T engine.
