Two new Saabs over the years:
1) A 2001 9-3 SE bought in Jan 2001. Sticker = a bit over $35K; got it with tax and license for $26.3K. Still on the road with 164K miles.
2) A 2006 9-3 SC bought in Jan 2007. Sticker = a bit over $30K; got it with tax and license for $22.6K.
No way I could've / would've bought either car new without those huge discounts. As for the '06, when we were shopping I saw loaded a loaded Corolla for the same price, and loaded Camrys were pushing $30K with no discounts. L. O. L.
Saab remains one of the best values on the road as long as you don't pay close to sticker price early in the model year. I would hate to think of those poor folks who dropped $50K on a loaded 9-3 convertible...
My future plans with Saab? Looking to buy a used 2006 or 2007 9-3 with under 25K miles. Hope to let my now 8-yr-old son drive it when he gets his license around 2017. [Don't retire, Anders!]
