I was just curious about automotive recyclers Posted by adl6009 [Email] (#2526) [Profile/Gallery] (more from adl6009) on Sat, 8 May 2010 15:15:02 In Reply to: Re: Tell me about pcm's and ecu's, SWEDECAR [Profile/Gallery] , Sat, 8 May 2010 10:00:32 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I didn't think the process would be so fractured. Thinking each manufacturer would try to control the process and keep it economical.
I was looking at some of the oh'bay stores to see what different auto recyclers were listing and selling, wondering where the money is for these guys. I didn't see a lot of used engines sold, but I did see many ecus sold. (You can search for expired listings) I figure the good body parts are gone by the time the recycler gets the car and how far does 10 or 15 cents a pound go, $200 a car? How big is the demand for used engines? I'm sure there's money in it, just look at the modern 20 acre sites out in the heartland that specialize in auto recycling. Just wondering.
