The definition of "GNP" did not exist before Keynes' "General Theory." Read up on the details of GNP/GDP methodology, then one will notice that:
1. If private charity hands out $1million, it's not counted towards GNP/GDP; however, if the government does exactly the same thing, it's counted as a $1million contribution to GNP/GDP;
2. If 10 people lose 10 jobs that make $50k each, it's fully compensated by the government paying 5 of them to dig holes in the ground for $50k each, and the other 5 filling the holes up for $50k each.
3. If the government pays $60 for a toilet, its contribution to the GNP/GDP is $60; if the government pays $60,000 for the same toilet, its contribution to the GNP/GDP is fully $60,000.
At this point, one has to wonder exactly what is GNP/GDP counting with its current methodology?
