Turbos are a very mature technology and GM has done some excellent implementations here and overseas. Given that domestic quality on the most recent vehicles is now on par with the Japanese, I'm not too worried about the turbo system. However, direct injection is a much less proven technology on gas motors, and one that requires immense fuel pressue and injectors in extremely hot, high pressure combustion chambers. I'm not a skeptic of the technology, but I'd be more worried about how the lines, pumps, and injectors age than the turbo.
