I think most people will agree that the weather has gotten freakier and freakier in the last decade or so. Maybe it's just a natural cycle, maybe it's not. When it comes to the debate over global warming I always look at motivation. Who has the most to win or lose when it comes to their position? I don't know of anyone who's getting rich in the enviromental movement or environmental science (maybe Al Giore but he was rich before he got involved). On the other hand there are great number of very powerful interests who are getting rich keeping things the way they are. The tobacco companies used exactly the same tachtics for years. The majority of doctors and scientists say smoking causes lung cancer? Our doctors and scientist say it's not conclusive, we're not sure, we don't know. And they paid off politicians and maintained the staus quo for years by shouting lies louder and better than the opposition. Suppose the day comes when it's 100% conclusive that global warming is a fact and the results are devestating? It'll take 40 or 50 years to reverse it. More importantly your children and your grand children are going to curse you and people who think like you. They are going to look back on you like people in the middle ages who thought the world was flat. Is that the legacy you want to leave? Are you really so sure of yourself? Enough to gamble your childrens future over your charished political and philosopical beliefs? I hope you're right because if you aren't someone other than us will have to pay a very heavy price.
