The GPS is very good, but you have to set them up to work the way you really want them to. Sometimes you have to tell them to avoid traffic jams, and they do better in some cities than others.
I find the screens are too small to give you the big picture, so good ol' Rand McNally works really well for plotting a route, then sometimes inputting it a piece at a time into the GPS.
What's nice with a GPS is being able to tell where you are and how long it is to your destination or next waypoint.
