Really the only serious problem I've personally see with Saabs is transmission problems on the older models like the C900. That's definitely a weak point, though the life can be extended with careful usage and maintenance.
Chassis parts are very robust. Rust takes its toll over time, but usually takes a very long time to become serious. (I know there are C900s being sent to Saab heaven now for rust problems, but we're talking about 20+ year old cars at this point.)
The engines - at least the "H" engine developed from the Triumph motor used in the 99 - are pretty damned difficult to kill. I have two old Saabs, a C900 and a 9000, each has near 300,000 miles, each still runs like they are ready for another 300,000. At this rate they may well outlast me...
