"I have MXV4s on our Honda Odyssey minivan, also bought at Costco.
They were fine for the first season, but after about 25% wear, I can't recommend these for ANY winter driving, on any car. They were adequate in light snow when new, now they're poor in anything more than a dusting.
Dry performance is fine, and they're OK in the wet. On slush and ice, forget using the car. These are three-season tires, not all-season.
Here's a real-life comparison: The van was parked for two weeks next to the 9-5 while we were on vacation, a time during which we got 4-5 inches of snow and some ice buildup around the tires. This morning, I tried to get the van out for 20 minutes, hacking at the ice, applying sand, etc. The front tires just spun...
The 9-5, sitting on the same ice, but shod in Nokian WRs, started up immediately, and freed itself with one rocking motion. No digging, no sand.
"

I used to drive on Michelin Pilot Alpins in Mass during the winter, and I'm very convinced that the tires have degraded
