What Simon said is essentially correct, but it's a lot more complex than that. "Streaming" isn't really a source, since streamed video is subject to the same rules that local sources are and governed by bandwidth. You will get a decidedly different result streaming over a 384kbps DSL connection compared to a 10mbps fiber connection, and a Netflix stream will be decidedly different than a Vudu stream or a Hulu stream.
If your question is in relation to TV shopping today, there is ZERO reason not to buy a 120Hz set. Not buying one will just be a liability in the next few years. Even today, I can positively tell the difference between my 120Hz and 60Hz TVs from *all* sources. I saved some bucks a couple years ago on the 60Hz, but I wish I'd spent the extra for 120Hz even then. Aside from some xbox games, everything I watch is streamed from one source or another - a Windows Home Server, Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc.
