The, new to me, 04 wagon wasn't
aligned until today.
Fifty miles of highway both ways with a couple of miles warm up before entering for a two way average of 39 mpg at 60 mph before alignment. With the 00 lpt 5-speed I saw 2+ mpg after an alignment and another 2+ mpg after JZW tune.
I thought there maybe a Garret vs Mitsubishi, an automatic vs 5-speed, or a sedan vs wagon difference but none of these factor heavily at highway speeds. I have a 2.4 Ecotec that has aftermarket turbo and sees similar results. On that forum a vendor/tuner/engineer who sells superchargers for the 2.4 always makes the case for the power robbing back pressure of the turbo, until I highlights the postive pressure always on the throttle body on a turbo to explain how the steady state mpgs result. All the pressure are viewable through an open SID.
Someone has a 9-5 for sale in the for sale section mentioning 36 mpg, someone better grab it!
