We are broke and "green" gov't investments a bad joke Posted by JerseySaab [Email] (#666) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JerseySaab) on Sat, 1 Dec 2012 09:53:10 In Reply to: Internationally Competitive Issue, Bill Homer [Profile/Gallery] , Sat, 1 Dec 2012 08:50:26 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
It is far more than one "green" company that has gotten infusions of government cash and failed spectacularly. In fact over 30 taxpayer-supported "green energy" companies have either gone bankrupt or are foundering, laying off employees, and headed for bankruptcy.
The fact is that U.S. is flat broke with debts and unfunded liabilities so large they are virtually impossible to conceptualize. We certainly cannot afford to keep flushing money down the toilet on these failing initiatives.
If the developing battery technology is any good it does not need to be subsidized. Any company that has a line on a real "miracle battery" will have no shortage of investors lining up for a piece of the action.
As far as being dependent on OPEC regimes, we would not need to do so if we develop the bountiful energy resources that exist in North America.
I stand by my original comment, and since this is not a political forum that is all I will say on the matter.
