...that a Volt is significantly different from a Leaf or a Tesla (other than costing a bit more than a Leaf and a LOT less than a Tesla).
A Volt is an electric car until the battery gets low, then it turns into a hybrid. Pretty much the best of both worlds - you can run all-electric on short trips, but use it like a regular car for long trips.
My wife has one and absolutely loves it (as do most other owners per surveys). Personally I think it's nice in general, accelerates and handles well, and the brakes are awful. In terms of response speed and linearity that is, they *do* stop the car. Just my opinion of course!
Money-wise, in an "average month" she spends $0 on gas and about $15 in electricity commuting 5 miles each way and on random local trips. She does sometimes make longer trips... she's had the car for 14 months now and has filled the 9-gallon gas tank twice.
