I agree that a 4-hour $400 dealer charge is completely insane, and that this is a relatively easy task one can do in their driveway... but access to the plugs in a subaru engine requires removing a bunch of stuff that you just do not need to do in other cars (battery, washer fluid tank, etc)... eg it is not anywhere near as fast as changing the plugs in a Saab. Lets compare...

ok, sure, he didn't actually change the plugs, but getting to them is the point... once they are exposed, the work is about the same, maybe a little tighter access sideways in the Suby)...
