Do you mean an on-demand water heater that does not need a water tank?
I would stick with your original setup. The modern higher efficiency boiler and insulated water tank will have you singing in the shower. Opt for the stainless steel water tank.
The on-demand water heaters are good only when your bathroom is very close to it (the source). Smaller ones are made to go under the kitchen sink. If the on demand heater if far away it will take some time for the water to heat up and even after that there will be temperature fluctuations when in the shower.
It depends how you like your hot water and energy bill. Both will work fine however.
Cheers!
