had one installed about 5 years ago. Love it, works great, no issues.
They were difficult to obtain being European made, but now they make them in NJ so there are readily available.
Its a condensing type boiler, so it runs at whatever temp needed to make up the demand; no more. It utlizes the outdoor air temperature to lower the combustion temperature which is where the efficiency is greatest. Intake and exhaust are direct vented to the outside via PVC pipe.
Mounts on wall, we have the expansion tank hanging beneath it.
The hot water tank is inside the boiler cabinet. It is insulated, and looks to be around 10-15 gallons. Small reservoir, but we never run out of HW because the HW is given priority over the heat zones.
Yes, the boiler 'runs' year round, but if the Thermostats are shut off (not calling for heat)the boiler only fires when water flow is sensed from HW tank. Last LPG tank fill for us was last April, now after 6 months of mostly only DHW usage does the tank need to be filled, around 200 gal.
They can be set up torun on either natural gas or LPG (propane).
They are definitely not 'builder grade' cheap and dirty units; think more like homeowner who is willing to pay a bit more upfront with long term efficient operation. I think the HW tank is stainless, so it should last.
