Can't remember the name of the TV show (was watching Barnaby Jones instead perhaps) with Dennis Weaver that he was lawman from Taos that went East (NYC ?) I think and outsleuthed all the gumshoes in the East. He ended up living in Ridgeway CO, becoming quite the environmentalist.
Wait - was it McCloud ?
Anyways last time I skied at Taos they had no high speed chairs and snowboaders were not allowed. Not sure if wither has changed, the skiing can be good there if they are having a good snowfall year, some pretty steep chutes, the original owner was known for putting martinis I think in various places on the mtn.
Taos would definately be different than New England, taxes much lower, climate much nice IMO. NM as a whole though per capita wise is pretty low in ranking, so depends what you like to do.
I gotta get out of the Denver CO area and up into MT or ID , this area is way too crowded now.
