Vehicles are shipped in major components from a fully functional assembly plant, to another assembly site located elsewhere on the globe. These remote plants are sometimes nothing more than pole barns. Sometimes thay are the beginnings of a future assembly plant that is still being constructed.
KDN is an acronym for Knock Down, refering to the vehicles arriving as major pieces requiring some additional assembly work rather than arriving as finished vehicles. Tax and Duty savings are a driving force behind doing this as well. A pick-up truck shipped with a bare rear frame and the bed in another crate (8 bolts to connect them maybe?) can even qualify as a KDN for these savings.
