Styling of new Jaguar X-type vs. Saab

Does anybody else find the styling of the new Jag to be very boring compared to the 9-3? I really prefer the look of the front end in Saabs.
On a related topic, why is the grill always so pronounced in sedans? Case in point: the Jag XK coupe is very attractive compared to the X-type and S-type sedans. Why couldn't they use that front on the sedans?
