I think many times styling is very subjective. Case in point on a Jag I prefer the more traditional look of the X and S type. There is a heritage factor to their styling which I find comforting compared to some of the the 'ohh look at whats hot styling'. . . case in point - the rear lights on the new lexus look like they were inspired by honda driving gang member who modified the rear light lenses. (that sounds harsh but the image created is rather accurate)

The Saab too has heritage in its design and there is a purposeful use of concave/convex and other styling cues.

I have an order in on a X-type 3.0 for delivery in July/Aug. When I have the car in front of me to look at I will decide if I will take it or not. I will say this . . . I am not at all impressed with the members on the Jagtalk site. They insult people with differing opinions by saying they drive 'cheap' cars and that they are un-educated people from New Jersey. Comments like that make me doubt the integrity and value base of the drivers of Jaguars. Needless to say the X-type is of interest to me because of AWD but if that means that I am also trying to say I am 'above' others I have a conflict with that branding strategy.

Also it was very interesting to see some of the quality issues with the S-Type on the Jagtalk site. Gosh some were really pretty awful - - common problem with water coming through ceiling lights in heavy rain, windows mysteriously opening, trunks opening mysteriously etc. To access the site you must have a user id and password and your e-mail address is available to all - - I asked to be deleted from the site because some people are so warped that they carry their ignorance and rudeness beyond the site and into you e-mail inbox.

Regards,

Dave Kovacs
