I did tourist delivery from VW back in 1987. TD is not a hassle -- it's easy but you have to know what kind of trip you want to have. Cities or countryside, etc.? Anyway, here are a few thoughts...
First: A car is great to see the countryside, especially Scandinavia where the rail network doesn't hit some of the more scenic locations. But, if you're primarily interested in seeing big cities buy a Eurailpass and forget driving. Rental car costs are absurdly high in Scandinavia ($500+ for a piece of junk) while they're cheap in Germany.
Overall, my TD experience back in 1987 was outstanding. But by the time you factor in all the travel costs, the price is a wash over buying in the USA.
Second: Compare the tourist delivery price with what you could pay if you took advantage of Saab's dealer incentives (if they exist when you want to buy). We took advantage of a $5500 incentive in January. The TD price was a bit higher.
Third: Add in the cost of European insurance and gas on your new Saab. I think you have to buy a minimum of 15 days insurance. That will be a few hundred dollars. Basic liability is included with the TD purchase price but you'll need to buy collision coverage and higher liability insurance. Saab can provide those costs based on the country in which you pick up the car. Also, I think the only free delivery location is Trollhatten. Other Euro-cities cost more money. Dropoff is free in Trollhatten and Bremerhaven (I think).
