I bought two Saabs in Europe while on Military orders. The setup is similar to tourist delivery, except the prices are different and you keep the car in Europe longer, so you don't get Swedish export plates and insurance. Shipping it down to Spain cost a few hundred dollars, but similar to US delivery fees. Driving the cars in Europe was great!! Saabs are extremely stable at 100+ mph, and I managed to confirm the top end speed of 140 many times. Gas is expensive, last time I was over there it worked out to roughly a buck a liter, but having your own car for an extended trip might be worth it. Driving in Europe really isn't a challenge, you need to go by a AAA office and get an international driver's license. The road signs are easy to understand, and pretty constant all over Europe. When we left we dropped the car off at the Frankfort, GE airport. It was a painless process, and then we picked up the car a few weeks later in San Francisco, with no damage. Yes there are drop-off fees if you don't leave it at a certain few ports, but it might be worth it to drop it off near your return airport. If you want a Saab and a European vacation, then I would recommend it. But you need to be confortable with planning your own trip- hotels, etc. I also managed to find a great little book about cars in all the European languages with pictures for all the major parts and servicing. Since I am a rock at languages, it was great insurance in case we broke down out in the middle of nowhere. It's called Passport's "let's Drive Europe: the 10-language phrasebook for motoring travelers."
good luck
Ken
