I am curious to hear how others might handle a certain situation -- any advice is welcome.....

Here is the scenario:

At work I park in a nice garage where we have assigned parking. On the passenger's side of my car a lady parks (badly) a Ford Expedition. A while back I got a small door ding on my passenger side door. I am 99% sure it was her as she can _never_ park her car correctly and is always over the line into my spot. The other 1% chance is that this would have happened when I went to lunch so I did not seek compensation from her, but rather covered the cost of the fix myself.

It is now a few months later and despite parking as far to the left of my spot as I can small scratches are now appearing on my passenger's side door. I got two 3/4 inch size vertical scratches right under my passenger's side mirror in the same day (I assume getting out and getting in). I didn't notice the scratches until I washed my car this weekend. They don't catch your eye from a foot away, but they are noticeable. Well today I am 100% sure this lady placed them as I got a matching third scratch in the same general area and never drove anywhere all day. So now I know she did it....

What is the best way to approach this individual to try and get compensated for fixing the scratches?

I am going to leave a note on her windshield and notify the building so that I can find out who she is. What rights do I have to make her pay for the fix? Any idea how much it costs to fix these? Would a good detail with compounding get these out (They are not down to the metal).

Any thoughts are appreciated. I am sure there are others that have had this issue. I am looking for the best advice to get her to cover the fix.

Thanks,
MPY
