I feel your pain. I got my 9-3 SE 5-speed almost a year ago. As luck would have it, in the time it took to get from Sweden to Ohio, and for me to find it, I only had to wait about 30 days (per the door jamb info) to begin the detailing regimen. I'm pleased to say it looks at least as good as the day it was delivered.
On the other hand, my wife just got a new Honda, which we picked up at the end of last month. Living about an hour away from the factory, and picking it up just off the truck, it was made just before we got it, so I have the full three months (per Honda) before lovingly applying wax. The car is essentially a commuter car for my wife, but I like to keep them well detailed regardless. I did cheat today and used gloss enhancer spray on it after I washed and dried it.
As a side note, should we be concerned that many dealers are ready to apply whatever "clearcoat/polyurethane/bottled glass/uberwax/protection package" they try to charge hundreds for without regard to the aforementioned waiting period?
