I don't know if the owners manual calls for it, but I use auto wax liberally up and down the mast (while raised). Lightly wipe any excess off(leave steaks of the wax), then retract the antenna. Wipe off any excess that squeezes out the top. This cleaning and dry lubricant will allow the mast to operate smoothly and not attract dust and debris the way a wet lubricant would. I have used it on other makes with success as well. You must relube every couple months.
