Judges run the "trials" - no prosecutor needed. I used to just keep postponing until I had three tickets, then plea bargain guilty to the slowest in satisfaction of all three!! Doesn't work anymore.
You need to fight the ticket. Search the web for help. National Motorist Association (or something like that http://www.motorists.org/ ) has a kit to help. Plead not guilty and hope that the cop would rather stay out of court and write 10 tickets instead of convicting on one ticket. If he does show up, ask for an adjourment to consult an attorney and hope the cop is on vacation, loses his job, or gets sick when it's rescheduled. They're pretty good at scheduling all of the cops cases in one day now, so it's getting tougher to beat them.
Good Luck.
