You better believe it is dangerous Posted by Joe [Email] (#444) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Joe) on Mon, 21 May 2001 06:42:07 In Reply to: Re: Jaguar S-Type rental car and tire pressure, John Davies, Sun, 20 May 2001 11:18:20 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The pressurized air in your tires contains a lot of energy. The energy is proportional to the pressure and the volume. I figured out the energy in a motorcycle tire at 100 psi and it was about the same energy as a 44 magnum handgun (Make my day). A car tire would have more volume therefore more energy. Just think how long a 1 hp motor takes to pressurize the air tank. This energy can come out all at once. If you don't believe me check out the safety labels on any tire mounting equipment. They routinely inflate truck and aircraft tires in a cage just incase there is a defect.
Heed the lable on the side of the tires!
Drive Safe,
Joe
