Off-Topic, but deadly serious. Email from a friend in NYC- Posted by IrieTom [Email] (#1032) [Profile/Gallery] (more from IrieTom) on Tue, 11 Sep 2001 14:26:49 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The following is an Email from a friend in NYC. I can only hope that two other good friends of mine are safe as well.
The following is reprinted without permission (but I'm sure he won't mind):
I truly hope and pray that none of you knew anyone involved.
I had just gotten to my office at 39 Broadway which is very near the towers
after the first plane had struck. We were all staring at the tv in absolute
shock but at the time it was unclear how truly bad the sitation was. A few
minutes later we heard the roar of a jet and then heard a huge explosion
which shook the building (I'm on the 31st floor) and someone said look at
the tv and we saw the fireball of the second plane. We just stood there
watching the tv. I was on the opposite side of the building but some guys
had been on a ledge and actually saw the second plane go in. Other guys had
gone to look at the first building and they came back with ash and debris in
their hair. I stayed for a few minutes but then decided to leave. I walked
up broadway which was crowded with people looking up at the towers which
were burning with debris falling and papers coming down. I kept going to
get the hell out of there but I couldn't believe what I was seeing when I
looked up. I got a few blocks up when there was another exlosion which made
everyone run for a ways. No one knew if it was another plane or what. I
think it was one of the building collapsing but no one knew that. I kept
going with a stream of people just going north. Everyone was just in shock.
I rushed home really just going. People were saying that the buildings
had collapsed but I couldn't believe it. They were on fire but I couldn't
imagine them collapsing but when I got home they had collapsed. They are
gone. Many many thousands of people and firefighters are dead. It is
unbelievably terrible. They were saying that they need blood but I don't
know where to go. The hospitals are probably really chaotic. Maybe I
should just stay home I don't know. This is just a terrible situation. I'll
keep in touch.
