I agree with solo piano music- Posted by IrieTom [Email] (#1032) [Profile/Gallery] (more from IrieTom) on Wed, 5 Dec 2001 17:16:46 In Reply to: Re: Car audio "test" music preferences, RS [Profile/Gallery] , Wed, 5 Dec 2001 16:52:29 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Rachmaninoff's prelude in C#, opus 3, no.2 will test all frequency ranges.
Of course, reggae music will give you instant feedback on the bass capacity of your system.
I like music with wide dynamic ranges- the loud parts sound louder when there's quiet spaces between them to add contrast. For really loud stuff, Red Hot Chili Peppers (especially Mother's Milk and BloodSugarSexMagik), Jane's Addiction, and 311 (Music) are some of my faves.
For clean sound and recording production values, try some Steely Dan or Lenny Kravitz (love that vintage tube amp sound.)
Roger Waters's "Amused to Death" has some amazing stereo effects, crystal clear soundstage, nifty Jeff Beck guitar solos, and some 10-year-old commentary about military actions in the middle east which are once again relevant. Pink Floyd's "Echoes" (side 2 of the "Meddle" album) is always a great way to spend 20 minutes.
I'd better not get too carried away- I've just started to scrape the surface...
