i.e. where the oil pan is on the NG vs. the oil pan/transmission is on the C900, the engines are basically the same design -- 2.0, 2.1, and 2.3 are all from the original 4 cyl Saab. NEVER was it a GM design. In fact, it has it's roots further back with the Triumph sourced 1.7 and 1.8 liter engine used in the early 99's.
