I live in Westchester County NY and the new 7 series seems to be a big hit with the executive set. Also big in Fairfield County, CT. They buy the car for the image, not the styling. But I think the appeal of one electronic control that works something like 300 functions is that the owner can master the few things he needs and then look at anyone else and say "I can figure it out, so I must be so much smarter than you". Kind of intellectual snob appeal, which is needed because a lot of people can now afford hyper expensive luxury cars, so BMW owners need an edge over others. Wonder how fast they will depreciate in three years, the 7 series gets cheap pretty quick. And what will it cost to fix/service the iDrive a few years from now? Hope the ditital disease doesn't infect SAABs they same way.
We will probably see a lot of the new Range Rovers soon too, $70,000 SUV's to get you to Manhattan or the Hamptons, with a BMW sourced V8.
