There are very few Saabs in Atlantic Canada for two reasons. The first being that there is only one dealer here, located in Halifax. The second is that this is a very economically depressed region, so buying "fancy" euro cars is not a common thing. That being said, I live in Halifax, and I see a Saab almost every day, but I also have eagle eyes when it comes to car spotting of any make. As soon as you leave Halifax, Saabs seem to disappear completely. I can probably count on one hand the number of Saabs I've seen outside of Halifax (but in Atlantic Canada) in the past year.

I think that all of this enhances the uniqueness factor of my car. Only four people that have ever got into my car had been in a Saab before. And two of those people had to do with meeting on the Saabnet... So only two random encounters. Most of my friends thought I was crazy to get a Saab, until they got in for a ride. There're all Saab educated now.

Even for me, this is my first car, and I had never been in a Saab until I took it for a test drive last year. I was sold almost immediately. I knew nothing about Saabs at that point, but have learned so much from these boards in the past year. When I bought it, it was still only a car to get from A to B, and I had no intention of investing money into it. Since then I have installed an MBC, Bilstein shocks and SAS sway bar among other non essential mods. I'm hooked, but I also fear the car has become my money pit. I still don't regret anything. If I hadn't got the Saab, I'd most likely be driving some gutless Japanese car with no smile factor.
