Hey all!
next fall i will be in need of a computer as i will be entering college. I am trying to find out now what would be good for me so i have time to search around for the best price. Here's the deal
1: Mac V. PC. i've got a gateway Pentium 2 P.c running on windows 98 at home. I've heard both good and bad stories about macs. what are the pros and cons and how tough is the software/hardware compatablilty issue if any with macs. I will probably be using this computer for lots and lots of typing papers, storing data, making charts all of that scientific stuff as i will be most likekly going to a tech school (Hopefully MIT woohoo). Ill want to store music on it, possibly even edit music (i hear macs are good for this) im going to try and stay away from games so i dont waste space, but no guarantees.
2: Laptop v. desktop.
convienence of a laptop seems great to me. especially in that i could take my computer to classes/labs and everywhere else it would be helpful. but is it worth it to sacrifice valuable memory and expansion space? my other option would just be a desktop with which i would proably use a flat screen if my wallet permits.
I'm going to want something pretty high up in the scale since it will last me at least my 4 years in college and realistically more. what does everyone think?
TIA,
nick

P.S. Sorry about the length.
