This morning's mail brings the Feb 03 Automobile magazine with an interview of SAAB's CEO. SAAB is estimated to have lost $300 million in 2002 converting its lineup to "me too" sedans. Now every article about SAAB products has the words "Epsilon", "Chevrolet" or "Cadillac" in it. So much for cachet and uniqueness.
The next page shows GM's Holden (Australia) division and its, get ready folks, SSX Concept car with AWD and a very unique feature ...... a f***ing HATCHBACK!!!!!!!!!!!! How come these guys never get fired? No wonder the guy that draws Dilbert never runs out of material.
Jamie Kitman also mentions SAAB on the last page in his typically on point article, "GM neutered SAAB from the get go".....Well, gotta go, I'm heading over to the classified board to dream.
