...then why not Saabs! When I was in Guangzhou I was shocked to see a billboard for Buick. Apparently a locally produced Regal-like vehicle is very popular amoungst the wealthy/government folk. They also have a small car not sold in the US, called the Sail I believe. Funny that Buick is the recognized name in China, not Chevy, Caddy, etc. The majority of cars there were older generations Jettas used as Taxis, which are produced under contract locally. VW seems to really have done well here. There were also some Citreons, amusingly. Dunno if the situation is similar in all parts of China.
