GM moving Buick production to China? Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sun, 25 Oct 2015 05:17:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
There was an article in Reuters yesterday or Friday stating that GM is moving production of the Verano (their overall nicest car IMHO) from the Lake Orion assembly plant to China after the 2016 model year. The source of this information was parts suppliers for the Verano.
Is the Verano being dropped from the North American market? (the Chinese market requires different vehicles than the US, such as long wheelbase Regals which are chauffeur driven)
Will the Chinese Verano be imported back to the US? (the public relations fall-out from this could be monumental in light of GM's approach to making the US gov't whole following the Great Recession)
Is the Verano being redesigned following the 2016 MY using parts sourced almost exclusively from China? (same public fallout disaster but likely reduced somewhat)
Or did Reuters have bad sources?
