The timing belt is a major point, since it has an "interference" engine.
I located an '87 for my ex-wife, who kept it for 4-5 years and added about 40K miles (with the kids' help) for a total of 160K+. All that time it was missing second gear (hey, it was $1100) but would shift from 1st to 3rd (at 3500 rpm) with no problem. The main annoyances were a fluctuating idle and some oil usage later on. My son finally broke it for good.
Honda increased the engine size the following year and probably made numerous improvements every subsequent year. Therefore, I'd go as new as possible. The coupes seem to hold higher resale values.
Additionally, I'd opt for the cloth interior unless the previous owner was extremely dilligent about leather care. Hope this helps.
