Justin, thanks for the detailed reply. E39 M5 - that's quite a comparison! I do own multiple older cars like you with a similar philosophy to their maintenace. One of them is an E39 - 1998 528i. I find it to be just slightly lacking in the power department, but it is still somewhat fun to drive. I enjoy driving the 9000 more. However it is tons more fun than my w124, that one is a slug, performance was never one of its intended goals. M5 is the benchmark in that car segment.
I have read several times before that Jaguar was found to be the safest car in the UK, but it was always in the British media. You don't hear it mentioned as often as Volvo and Benz when talking about safety engineering but I am sure it up there with most luxury cars, especially being European.
Sounds like you are really enjoying the car, I am jealous!
