I think if there is a perception that they are for old men, it is because often all large cars have that stigma... Impala, Buicks, big Caddy or Lincoln, big Mercs or BMW even - younger folks tend to prefer (and afford) the 3 or 5 series (5 series is plenty big imho)...
I don't think there is anything wrong with that though. Where you might have issues with a Jag would be some combination of upfront cost and/or maintenance cost. Nice cars but not cheap to service. Also, fuel economy is probably rather poor... big heavy cars with big engines. Would be a nice smooth highway cruiser though! If you can find a decent Jag service guy near by, go for it! You only live once!
I know you said you like big because you are tall, but how tall? This may not work for you, but a 6'4" friend bought a Mini - it was one of a few cars that fit him well. So maybe look at a few "out of the box" options as well?
