I wish I knew... They just told me t5 was older technology and was not capable of adjusting the mixture this high. They told me I needed to bring my car to them immediately so they could make some adjustments and get the car running at the right mixture... Told me I should do it right away because it was surely running lean and it would damage my engine.
Maybe this is just a scare tactic to get me into the shop so they can find things wrong with my car and charge me. They would also get the check-out price too. I wonder if they would crush the fpr or something. I do not know what they do to adjust the mixture. I was not aware you could do anything except adjust the sw with a re-flash or a crushed fpr or a 3.0 fpr. It did make some sense to me because my car was running lean on similar sw and hw from Jak. Not really sure what is going on here, but I will get the new injectors and sw this week and check it on the dyno ASAP.
Once the a/f reads good, I will not have to worry about anymore, but I sure would like to know why this is the case... I always thought the ecu's of today can make all the necessary adjustments for mixture by reading the o2 from oxygen sensor. If this is not the case and the t5 cannot adapt past 3-4000'... What is going on when I go up the pass at 11,000 feet? Am I about to blow my engine because the mixture is goind way too lean as I climb up in altitude? This just does not make sense to me. Sweden has mountains, surely they have an ecu that can adapt to high altitude... I know they advertise how well the t7 Viggen does at high altitude going from 10-12psi at sea-level to 20psi from 5000 to 10,000'ams.... Is t5 that far behind and such an old dinasaur??? I sure hope not,
John
