these cars aren't that bad to modify that is unless you were expecting a new ECU for $400 like some VW & honda's. Maptun, Nordic, SQR, BSR, JSP & Abott all make stuff for your car. The reason I would modify it is because you can gain 30-40 HP for $1,000-2,000 & you will get better MPG & the engine will run safer due to being a little richer. ECU or ECU & Exhaust is all that's needed that is unless you want a LOT more power.
How to keep in max boost well you need to keep your foot planted on the floor & not part of the way there :) You also need to simply keep the RPM's where the power is thus do not expect to have lots of power at 1,000 RPM's when th eturbo can't develop boost intil 2-3K. It's no different then any other engine except we deal with a turbo spooling up vs other car having to deal with the cam timing etc
