This is a good discussion that I wanted to bring up in its own thread. I would like to see us try to figure out what the pump gas limits are with regards to turbocharged engines with decent VE figures. Running 22psi and a cr of 9/8.5 on 91 gas just ain't gonna give you the results the charts tell you it should. And there is a difference between running aromatics, like toluene/xylene, and products that delay or suppress ignition by slowing the flame kernal, like most aftermarket oct boosters do.
And Deans right, 9 points is .9. Like when the fed raises rates 25 basis points, 4% then becomes 4.25. So with OTC octane boosters you are paying $10 to go from 91 ro 91.9. Whereass I can assure you that if you put a gallon of toluene in it will make a huge diff.
And oh, yeah, I use toluene it it kicks ass.
